Thanks very much Richie and Cort. This notion of « pause » that you mention at the end of your talk is so important: is this that your perception of annoyance triggers your amygadala and that, because of meditation practice, it delays your reaction in your prefrontal cortex? But if you react gently, is it that your amygdala connects first, with some rewarding regions of the brain before reaching the prefrontal cortex?

Thank you Richie and Cort. This was excellent in many ways. The explanation of how the various networks react to emotions with reverse actions that bias the senses was fascinating. Also,, the emphasis on the important of a solid practice is spot on to remind us how to build up a tolerance or resistance is so important. Regarding sending cardio functions, Cort, I suffered for AFIB for quite a few years and over time was able to sense my heart rhythm if I was just quiet. The AFIB was cured, eventually, by zapping some interior sensitive heart tissue. Thanks again, gents, this substack is terrific both scientifically and practically. J
